Once Afraid of the Web, Struggling Mortgage Broker Rebuilds Career Online
Three years ago, I was a struggling Mortgage Broker. After spending almost $2800 to promote a hotel seminar that attracted only eight attendees, I recorded a podcast and registered it on the internet. Six days later, I uploaded my second podcast and noticed that my first episode had already been downloaded 17 times. I couldn’t believe it! Today, those podcasts have been downloaded over 50,000 times in 27 countries, completely changing my career forever.
I experienced the power of the internet first hand. My podcast series was written up in various websites and blogs and eventually became the third most popular mortgage-related podcast on the iTunes Music Store. Now, I have completed a step-by-step guide to show other self-employed professionals how to leverage the internet to rebuild their careers.
When my podcast took off, I became a believer. Today, I run a group on Meetup that has over 1,200 members, I have 11 educational CDs that I sell on Amazon, I’ve self-published two books on Lulu and my 500+ page website/blog is getting more traffic all the time. The internet has completely changed my life and I can’t wait to show others how they can do the same.
This Twitter book launch is the perfect culmination of my journey. In fact, Twitter is the ONLY place that makes sense for my audience. Twitter is a community of individuals, each contributing to the ongoing conversation in today’s blogosphere. My participation in that conversation has redefined my career, so it’s only fitting I rely on that same conversation to propel this movement forward.
