Hello and welcome to Tactical Execution.  This is the initial introduction for an information series that promises to deliver more free useful content about innovative marketing techniques and strategic business positioning than any other online resource I’m aware of.  The series is designed for entrepreneurs, small business owners and ambitious individuals looking to build credibility and gain exposure quickly.

My name is Patrick and I’m your host.  I decided to create this series because my first podcast series entitled “Beyond the Rate” absolutely exploded on me and as of this recording, has been downloaded over 14,000 times in 27 different countries.  The subject was MORTGAGES and I never expected it to take off like that!  I’ve received emails from across the globe and did loans across the country as a result.

As I mentioned, Beyond the Rate deals exclusively with mortgages but my true passion has always revolved around broader financial and strategic concepts.  Today, with a degree in marketing & finance, over 9 years experience in corporate marketing, 5 years self-employed and a ton of research behind me, I’ve decided to put my knowledge base into the public domain, hence this podcast.

Tactical Execution is designed for action-oriented people.  You could be a small business owner growing revenue, an entrepreneur seeking new customers or a commission sales professional building a client base.  You could be a musician looking for an audience, an author searching for a publisher or an actor waiting to be discovered.  I’m not here to change your goals.  I’m just here to help you achieve them.

Everyone has a great idea.  I learned this long ago.  Almost everybody has some brilliant business concept in their mind.  And we all know that most people never do anything about it.  Most people never take action.  But every now and again, someone will tell me about their great idea.  And I usually ask what the biggest challenge is to getting it started.  If they respond with some sort of logistical issue, I know it’s going nowhere.

At the beginning, logistics are almost never the problem.  That’s not true later on.  Logistics can definitely be a problem when a business is up and running.  But at the beginning, it all boils down to MARKETING.  Marketing is the million dollar question.  Marketing is the key.  Marketing is what gets the ball rolling.  Bottom line; if you can develop a profitable marketing strategy, a reliable marketing technique, it’s a license to print money.  And that’s what we’re concerned about here at Tactical Execution.  We focus on specific marketing strategies and how to get them going quickly.

Many self-help programs suggest that when you’re MOTIVATED ENOUGH, you’ll know what to do.  I disagree.  I believe that KNOWING WHAT TO DO is the hard part.  Once you know what to do; once you know how to get results; once you know a strategy that actually works, motivation comes naturally.  Who wouldn’t be motivated if they knew EXACTLY how to make money?  Many self-help programs focus on the motivational foundation that’s often CORRELATED with success.  Tactical Execution focuses on specific action plans that actually CREATE success.

I don’t debate the importance of purpose and motivation and visualization and focus in attracting success and so on.  In fact, I offer an extensive program on personal congruence that deals specifically with the development of a personal mission statement and aligning your goals and activities around that mission.  But THIS information series has a strong bias toward immediate action and immediate results.  THIS information series is designed to facilitate immediate tactical execution.

The coming chapters will introduce a variety of marketing vehicles available in today’s internet world, where they work best, exactly how to use them and what costs are involved.  Topics include website development, search engine optimization, pay-per-click advertising, podcasting and YouTube.  In later chapters, we’ll also focus on more traditional marketing vehicles like direct mail, seminars, workshops, print advertising, drip marketing campaigns, tradeshows and cultivating referral sources.

Getting the word out is difficult – no question.  There’s so much marketing out there that your message carries less weight than ever.  Consumers are being over-marketed.  But there are also a number of things you can do to build trust with your customers and increase your level of exposure.  Indeed, there ARE still things that work and it’s usually a creative and persistent combination of strategies that wins out in the end.  And once we’ve identified the different options, we’ll look at how to use them together as part of an integrated marketing strategy.

Every marketing campaign has a cost and you have to spend that money long before you can expect to get any results in return.  Anyone who’s self-employed knows what I’m talking about.  It’s one of the most frustrating aspects of running your own business.  So what do you spend your money on?  Which campaign do you start?  And how much cash do you have backing you up?  This entire program focuses on maximizing results with a minimal budget.

Nobody can guarantee success.  But Tactical Execution promises to take an analytical and frugal approach at today’s innovative marketing techniques and I hope you’ll come along for the ride by subscribing to the series.  The first few chapters will deal primarily with online marketing vehicles and the series will then move on to more traditional offline techniques.  But don’t think these offline strategies have lost their magic.  Many of them are still effective mediums and a little creativity can restore their luster within a larger integrated approach.

One thing I promise: you’ll find more useful information here than you’ll find anywhere else, at least anywhere I’m aware of.  Each podcast will come with an itemized list of things you can do TODAY to start seeing results.  Those’ll be posted in the Members Only section of the website – that’s TacticalExecution.com.  There’s going to be a lot of value here; I guarantee it.  It’s gonna be fun and I hope you’ll join me.

Okay, thank you very much for listening.  If you like what you hear on this podcast, please tell a friend about the series.  Modern technology like podcasting can help elevate new and innovative thinkers but we all have to play our part to help spread the word for those who deserve our endorsements.  If I am deserving of yours, my thanks.

You can find written versions of these podcasts at TacticalExecution.com and I do offer workshops, seminars and keynote speeches as well as consulting services so please email me at Patrick [at] TacticalExecution.com for more information.  I’m also doing an extensive series on stock market investing, real estate finance and the economy.  It’s called Financial Audio and you can find it on iTunes.

Stay tuned.  There’s a lot more to come.  In the meantime, think big, take action and market strategically.  Bye for now.
